The annual charity event to raise funds for the Jason Dahl Scholarship Fund known as the Flight 93 Heroes Gala will occur this year at the Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center in Aurora in Colorado on the evening of Saturday, August 20, 2022 — almost 21 years after the captain of United Airlines flight 93 lost his life in one of several airplane crashes caused by the attacks on that day — from 5:00 in the afternoon through 10:00 in the evening; and you are invited to attend.
Flight 93 Heroes Gala Fundraiser 2022 For The Jason Dahl Scholarship Fund
As a result of the fundraising efforts of the Jason Dahl Scholarship Fund — in coordination with the Leroy W. Homer, Jr. Foundation — 141 scholarships have been awarded since 2002; and $44,000.00 was awarded to 19 winners representing 11 different schools in 2022 alone. All board members of the Jason Dahl Scholarship Fund are volunteers — and the Jason Dahl Scholarship Fund has no salaried employees and minimal administrative expenses.
Heather “Lucky” Penney will be the keynote speaker of this evening of rememberance; and her message and speech promises to be highly riveting. As a former pilot of an F-16 aircraft, she was one of two fighters sent to intercept the Boeing 757 airplane which operated as United Airlines flight 93 on Tuesday, September 11, 2001 — but the hijackers downed the airplane before they arrived.
Also invited to appear as an honored guest is John Werth, who was the air traffic controller for United Airlines Flight 93 on the day that the airplane was forced down from the sky.
The master of ceremonies of the evening will be none other than the beloved Denny Flanagan, who was a captain at United Airlines and one of the pilots of its Boeing 757 and Boeing 767 airplanes prior to his retirement after a long and illustrious career. Here is an article featuring him which I wrote back on Friday, August 29, 2014 pertaining to how we can all learn from him about working from the heart.
Honored during the evening will be the following pilots who were killed in the terrorist attacks of Tuesday, September 11, 2001:
- Jason Dahl Captain of United Airlines flight 93
- Leroy Homer First Officer of United Airlines flight 93
- Vic Saracini Captain of United Airlines flight 175
- Michael Horrocks First Officer of United Airlines flight 175
A silent auction will also be conducted — including condominiums in Vail and Maui, international travel, certificates for rides in a United Airlines flight simulator, a ride in a P-51 Mustang airplane, and other flight experiences. Silent auction individual items will be available for viewing on the official Internet web site of Flight 93 Heroes Gala in early August of 2022.
Tickets are $20.00 per person for digital access to the event; $135.00 to $150.00 for a ticket to attend the event in person; or $1,800.00 for a VIP table for ten people. All proceeds directly support the charities of the pilots of Flight 93 and Flight 175.
