Do This to Get Free Access to the Internet at Starwood Hotel Properties

E ffective as of February 2, 2015, access to the Internet at standard speeds when you are a guest at Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide properties is complimentary to you if you simply do one thing as a member of the Starwood Preferred Guest frequent guest loyalty program: book your reservations through the many digital channels of Starwood for stays at Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide properties.

“…free in-room Internet access will be available to SPG members who book their hotel stays through Starwood’s many digital channels including: spg.com, Starwoodhotels.com, brand websites, mobile sites, the SPG app or through a travel professional, who books on spg.com”, posted SPG Champion 2, who is an official company representative at Milepoint and also known as Christopher Carman, who is the social media specialist at Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide.

  • Preferred members will receive standard in-room Internet access and have the ability to upgrade to the highest tier of Internet — where available — for an incremental charge
  • Gold members will receive the highest level of Internet access available; as well as a welcome gift choice of Starpoints or complimentary beverage
  • Platinum members currently receive the highest level of in-room Internet access

You will only receive complimentary access to the Internet if the reservation for your hotel stay includes your Starwood Preferred Guest frequent guest loyalty program account number at least 24 hours prior to checking in for your hotel stay; and complimentary access to the Internet is limited to one room per eligible member per hotel stay regardless of how many rooms have been reserved.

No incremental benefit will be provided at participating hotel properties of the Starwood Preferred Guest frequent guest loyalty program which offer complimentary in-room Internet access to all guests.

Participating hotel properties of the Starwood Preferred Guest frequent guest loyalty program that have mandatory resort charges which include Internet access will provide a replacement benefit, to be determined at the discretion of each participating hotel property of the Starwood Preferred Guest frequent guest loyalty program. Employees of Starwood and participating hotel properties of the Starwood Preferred Guest frequent guest loyalty program are not eligible for the Internet Access Benefit.

Other terms and conditions apply.

This announcement follows this new policy posted on October 30, 2014 where free access to the Internet via Wi-Fi will be available as a standard benefit at greater than 3,800 hotel properties worldwide to all 47 million members of Marriott Rewards who book reservations through the official booking channels offered by Marriott International, Incorporated as of January 15, 2015.

I suppose I am not wrong to want free access to the Internet after all — especially if this trend continues, which I hope that it does…
