Kan Eang @Pier in Phuket to Celebrate 50 Year Anniversary

This article is a short review of the restaurant. With photographs.

The room rate at the Hilton Phuket Arcadia Resort & Spa hotel property — which will no longer be a part of the Hilton portfolio effective as of Sunday, January 1, 2023 — included full access to the Panorama Lounge, which was located on the same floor in the Lotus wing of the resort property as my room…

…and although the food and beverages that were offered in that lounge were abundantly plentiful and delicious at that time — certainly more than enough to enjoy a full breakfast and dinner there — I wanted to dine in an authentic Thai restaurant while I was in Thailand. I did not know where to go; so I asked an employee at the resort property for a recommendation, which I do not usually do.

I was unanimously referred to a restaurant called Kan Eang @Pier by multiple members of the staff of the resort property — and I was not disappointed at all in dining there, as the name of the restaurant basically translates into easy going for a relaxing and laid back experience…

I noticed that a message posted to the official Internet web site of the restaurant claims that the dining establishment has been in business for “49 years and counting”; so I thought I would write this short review in honor of the upcoming anniversary of 50 years in business…

…as well as feature photographs of some of the food which my dining companions and I throughly enjoyed — although the menu has changed since I was there in 2009.

I sat outside under huge hoo gwang and tamarind trees and enjoyed the breezes from Chalong Bay while dining. Plenty of seats and tables are available both inside and outside of the restaurant, which can seat approximately 500 patrons — but many of the areas feel quite private.

The food itself was great and flavorful, the service was between very good to excellent, the prices were definitely reasonable, and — with a table right by the waters of Chalong Bay and its islands — the ambiance rounded out the experience for me.

Final Boarding Call

I highly recommend dining at Kan Eang @Pier when in Phuket. You really do not need the address of the restaurant to find it. Simply head east down Sunrise Road to the end, which is where the restaurant is located near Chalong Pier.
