T homson Airways has been in the news recently due to a couple of unrelated yet bizarre incidents — one of them where a female passenger literally got a leg up on members of the flight crew.
A woman who swore profusely and demanded “cigarettes and a parachute” allegedly threw a prosthetic leg at members of the flight crew and attacked them with that leg while drunk aboard an aircraft which operated as Thomson Airways flight 297 from Enfidha in Tunisia to Edinburgh on Wednesday, July 30, 2014.
The aircraft apparently was diverted to London Gatwick Airport while the aggressive woman was reportedly handcuffed by members of the flight crew.
Police escorted the 48-year-old woman from the aircraft, placed her under their custody and interviewed her.
A spokesperson for Thomson Airways apologized to passengers for the incident. I just hope that the female passenger was not charging members of the flight crew with a leg because she was charged an arm and a leg for her airfare.
I apologize for going out on a limb with that bad crack — and speaking of bad cracks, a passenger has reportedly been charged with endangering a flight after he allegedly cracked the inner pane of a window with a single punch aboard a Boeing 787 “Dreamliner” aircraft which operated as Thomson Airways flight 145 from Orlando Sanford International Airport to Manchester Airport on Sunday, May 25, 2014.
Nicholas Whittaker — who is 43 years of age — was arrested by police before exiting the aircraft and charged with recklessly or negligently acting in a manner likely to endanger an aircraft or anyone on board.
Perhaps he should have also been charged with being a pane in the neck to fellow passengers.
Let us hope that future flights are uneventful for Thomson Airways, an airline which is based in the United Kingdom.
