Sometimes you need an infusion of miles or points to your membership account for whatever reason — perhaps to have enough to redeem for a limited time award as one example — and the best time to purchase or gift miles or points is when they are on sale, as with this miles and points on sale for Friday, August 11, 2023.

A sale may be a discount on the price required to purchase miles or points — or perhaps the frequent travel loyalty program from whom you are buying the miles or points will match your purchase up to 150 percent, which is another way of reducing the cost of miles or points.

IHG One Rewards: 80 Percent Bonus Points
You have until the end of the day on Friday, September 1, 2023 to take advantage of receiving a bonus of 80 percent on IHG One Rewards points with a minimum purchase of 5,000 IHG One Rewards base points and up to a maximum limit of 150,000 IHG Rewards base points for $1,500.00 — not including the bonus points.
Marriott Bonvoy: Up to 30 Percent Bonus Points
You can buy or gift a minimum of 2,000 Marriott Bonvoy points — up to a maximum total of 100,000 points — and get a bonus of up to 50 percent through Friday, September 8, 2023 as follows:
- 20 percent bonus when you buy 2,000 to 9,000 Marriott Bonvoy points
- 25 percent bonus when you buy 10,000 to 39,000 Marriott Bonvoy points

You can purchase or gift up to a maximum of 150,000 AAdvantage miles in order to receive a discount of up to 35 percent — for a cost of $3,668.44 for 150,000 miles — through the end of the day on Thursday, August 31, 2023 as follows:
- Buy or gift 5,000 to 54,000 AAdvantage miles = 20 percent discount
- Buy or gift 55,000 to 149,000 AAdvantage miles = 25 percent discount
- Buy or gift 150,000 AAdvantage miles = 35 percent discount
Frontier Airlines Frontier Miles: 150 Percent Bonus
Until Friday, September 8, 2023, you can purchase or gift up to a maximum of 30,000 Frontier Miles and receive a bonus of up to 150 percent as follows:
- Buy 3,000 to 7,000 Frontier miles = 100 percent bonus
- Buy 8,000 to 19,000 Frontier miles = 120 percent bonus
- Buy 20,000 to 50,000 Frontier miles = 150 percent bonus
JetBlue Airways TrueBlue: Up to 70 Percent Bonus
Until the end of the day on Thursday, August 31, 2023, you can purchase a minimum of 3,000 TrueBlue points and receive a bonus of up to 70 percent with JetBlue Airways as follows:
- Buy 3,000 to 19,000 TrueBlue points = 30 percent bonus
- Buy 20,000 to 39,000 TrueBlue points = 50 percent bonus
- Buy 40,000 to 60,000 TrueBlue points = 70 percent bonus
Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards: Up to 50 Percent Discount
Through Sunday, August 20, 2023, purchase a minimum of 3,000 Rapid Rewards points and receive a discount of up to 50 percent bonus Rapid Rewards points.
United Airlines MileagePlus: Up to 90 Percent Bonus
Until the end of the day on Friday, August 25, 2023, you can purchase or gift up to a maximum of 87,500 miles and receive a bonus of up to 95 percent as follows:
- Buy 5,000 to 14,000 MileagePlus miles = 30 percent bonus
- Buy 15,000 to 39,000 MileagePlus miles = 60 percent bonus
- Buy 40,000 to 92,000 MileagePlus miles = 90 percent bonus

Remember that each frequent travel loyalty program has partners through which you can redeem miles or points; so you are not confined just to the product offered by an airline or lodging company.
Also be sure to read the terms and conditions of each offer. Typically, all sales are final: once you have purchased your miles or points through these sales, you cannot return your points; and your money cannot be refunded.
