New Ways to Use World of Hyatt Points November 2018 — But…
…the bad news is that the value of the Points + Cash option will diminish, as a minimum of 50 percent of the standard rate must be paid in order to use this option.

“I used the C+P alot with the 5K to 8K locations”, FlyerTalk member Mthorn82 posted. “A lot of times if I was low on points I would be able to snag up a cheap room for say in Mt.Laurel NJ for around $45 with the 2500 points on a 5K location and usually on a weekend when I visit the area to visit my relatives and friends. Just need a place to fall sleep was fine but now with the new system I could see that being a lot more with the 50%. They should def give the higher Explorist and Globalist some sort of reduction on that maybe 30 and 20%.”
However, FlyerTalk member 59Impala would not say that the changes are bad in every case. “I have seen full cash rates at Cat 6 and 7 hotels, which were only slightly higher than the cash part in a P+C. e.g. 350$ full cash vs 300$ in a P+C scenario. so with the new rules, the cash part in a P+C case would drop to 175$.”

Globalist Elite Level Members to No Longer Earn United Club Passes
Effective as of Tuesday, January 1, 2019, passes for a one-time visit to a United Club will be discontinued and no longer a benefit of Globalist elite level status in the World of Hyatt frequent guest loyalty program.
Two passes to the official airport lounges of United Airlines are currently earned by by completing 60 qualifying nights or earning 100,000 base World of Hyatt points.
All existing passes will be honored through their expiration dates. You can continue to earn MileagePlus miles with United Airlines for stays at Hyatt hotel and resort properties worldwide; and you can also convert World of Hyatt points to MileagePlus miles.
Summary
Nine days between the time of the advance notice and the date of which the changes become officially effective is poor, in my opinion; and while some people will experience some significant devaluation, I am not sure that it is quite the “armageddon” which some media sources seem to paint it.
For me, the option of combining points and miles was never of enough value for me to use it; but I can understand why many people are calling this portion of the announced changes a devaluation.
Conversely, I usually do not need to upgrade to a suite; so the new options are not attractive to me either — but at least a minimum of three days to book an upgrade to a suite will no longer be required under the new policies…
…so I will likely be affected minimally — if at all — by these announced changes; and I hope that you will not be adversely affected by them either.
