Morton’s The Steakhouse is offering petite filet sandwiches for only two dollars today only, Wednesday, August 13, 2025 from 4:00 in the afternoon until 8:00 in the evening at participating locations in the United States as part of its annual celebration of National Filet Mignon Day; and patrons are limited to a maximum of eight sandwiches per person.

This promotion is only available while supplies last at the bar of each restaurant, as you cannot take advantage of this offer seated at a table. Sales tax and gratuity are not included.

Morton’s The Steakhouse is a chain of restaurants which offers on its menu beef rated Prime — the highest grade possible — by the United States Department of Agriculture. I have dined at greater than one location of Morton’s The Steakhouse. The food is very good; but not the best which I have ever eaten — especially considering the cost of the meal — as I have been to other steakhouses which offer a better overall value and experience for the money…

…and I do not necessarily mean less expensive when I say value, either.

This offer is not valid with any other offer or discount.

Final Boarding Call

If you enjoy dining at Morton’s Steakhouse and you happen to be either based in or traveling to a city where a restaurant is located, today is your lucky day — although I am uncertain as to how small is each petite filet sandwich and how many you need to order to create a meal out of it.

This promotion is not as good as it used to be, as back in 2015, it valid from opening time until closing time at participating restaurants; the petite filet sandwiches used to cost only one dollar each; and patrons were limited to a maximum of twelve sandwiches per person. This is still a good offer if you are able to take advantage of it.

In 2016, this promotion was valid through 10:00 in the evening and not until closing time.

I first reported on this offer exactly 12 years ago on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at What’s Your Point?, a weblog of First2Board which is now defunct. I do not know if Morton’s offered the same promotion last year.

This year, I plan on taking advantage of this promotion for the first time…

  1. I took advantage of the location across the street from work. Delicious….tried to post a picture but the site won’t allow it. =(

  2. Brian,

I took advantage of the offer today with some co-workers at the location across the street. They were pretty tasty but not amazing. As a steakhouse fan, I agree with your assessment of Morton’s. I have dined there twice and neither were memorable experiences. The food is decent but I find the price to be very high for the quality of food and service is spotty at best. I have had better steaks (sometimes MUCH better steaks) and much better overall meals at every other top steakhouse I have been to.

    My scale:

The Capital Grille (Porcini Rubbed Ribeye and off menu Bone-In Filet are phenomenal)
    Gibson’s (Chicago)
    Wolfgang’s (NYC)
    Delmonico’s (NYC)
    Keen’s (NYC)
    Bobby Van’s (NYC)
    Flemming’s (VA)
    Ruth’s Chris (NJ)
Peter Luger’s (I find it overrated. Steak was good not great and their cash only policy rubs me the wrong way.)
    Gallagher’s (AC)
    Del Frisco’s (NYC)
    Smith and Wollensky’s (Chicago)
    Morton’s (NJ)

Feel free to let me know what you think.

    1. Sad to say that having been born in Brooklyn, Captain Kirk, I also found Peter Luger’s to be overrated.

Gallagher’s in Manhattan was so bad that it was one of the very rare times I did not leave a tip. I get better meat at the local supermarket; and the service was deplorable. Definitely not worth the money.

One of my favorite steakhouses in the United States was the original location of Shula’s in Miami Lakes; but I have not been there for years and I recently found out that “it has gone downhill.” What that means, I do not know.

I have never been to a Ruth’s Chris restaurant; but I have a friend who swears by them. A location opened not too far from where I am based; and I do have a $50.00 gift card. Perhaps it is time to try one.

I do enjoy Prime in Lenox Mall in Atlanta. They have an excellent filet mignon; and you cannot go wrong with the other offerings on their menu. They sadly did away with the half-price steak special between 4:30 in the afternoon and 6:00 in the evening. Those were great deals.

I have eaten at a number of other steakhouses in the United States over the years, including Chicago Chop House in Chicago; Bones in Atlanta; III Forks in Dallas; Metropolitan Grill in Seattle; Charley’s Steak House in Orlando; and other steakhouses in Omaha, Kansas City, Charlotte and other cities. I am hoping to go to Bern’s Steak House when I am in Tampa in a couple of months.

The best steaks I have ever eaten were in Argentina, Uruguay and South Africa — much of which were equal to or better than the best in the United States, in my opinion.

Here is my report on two steakhouses in the Johannesburg metropolitan area, if you are interested in reading it:
