When I spotted a Boeing 737-924ER airplane operated by United Airlines sporting a vintage Continental Airlines livery, I had to take photographs of ship number N75435, which was getting ready to depart to Newark.

The age of the airplane itself is approximately 14.5 years. “The process for completing this special livery was that we first started with stripping and repainting the aircraft”, according to the official Internet web site of International Aerospace Coatings. “This took our painters 9-days and 1700 man-hours to complete. The stripes on the fuselage and winglets were all masked out by hand. The Akzo Nobel base coat clear coat paint system was used on the fuselage, tail, and engines, while the Akzo Nobel Eclipse single stage gloss paint system was used on the wings and horizontal stabs.”

The classic livery was first used in 1947. To commemorate its anniversary of 75 years in 2009, Continental Airlines had an airplane painted with this retro livery in the “Blue Skyway” colors.
