The Waldorf Astoria New York will begin accepting reservations once again starting on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 for stays starting sometime in the spring of 2025 after being closed since Wednesday, March 1, 2017 for extensive renovations so that many of the greater than 1,400 rooms can be renovated and converted to luxury condominiums, as 375 of those rooms will once again be available for guests to reserve and usher in a new era of luxury in the city of New York.

Hilton Worldwide Holdings Incorporated announced the sale of the historic Waldorf=Astoria hotel property in New York to Anbang Insurance Group Company of China for $1.95 billion — or approximately $1.4 million per room — back in October of 2014.
The hotel property had been closed for the aforementioned extensive renovations since Wednesday, March 1, 2017.
One week later — on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 — in order to protect the art deco interiors of the iconic hotel property, nine members of the Landmarks Preservation Commission of the City of New York unanimously voted to preserve two dozen original public spaces of the interior of the Waldorf=Astoria New York, which first opened back on Thursday, October 1, 1931.
The = sign has since been removed from the name Waldorf Astoria to reflect the name of the brand.
Final Boarding Call
What the rates per night will be — either with cash, with Hilton Honors points, or a combination thereof — is still unknown at this time.
I have never stayed at the Waldorf Astoria hotel property in New York. Perhaps I will get the opportunity to do so in the future now that it will be open for reservations again…
