When a wave of violence due to civil unrest erupted in western Mexico earlier this month following the arrest of the son of a drug cartel kingpin who is currently serving time in jail, a few airlines issued travel waivers for customers who can change their itineraries without being charged a fee for doing so — and as United Airlines was one of those airlines which issued a travel waiver.
