To my surprise, this airport in Vanuatu actually does have a lounge located in its international terminal, which is associated with the Priority Pass network of lounges — and it is called Harry Bauer Club Lounge, which is at Bauerfield International Airport in Port Vila.
Yes, This Airport in Vanuatu Actually Does Have a Lounge.
The nondescript entrance to the lounge is located between the wall of windows and the wall on which the flat-screen television is mounted.
One wall of the lounge is completely comprised of windows from the floor to the ceiling, which offers an expansive view of the apron and lone runway outside — as well as the forested hills in the distance.
The lounge is actually equipped with an ample amount of electrical outlets that also include Universal Serial Bus ports — as well as what appears to be jacks for Ethernet access. The speed of the access to Wi-Fi was good. The assorted furniture of the lounge was reasonably comfortable.
On the long counter at the far end of the lounge was an urn for coffee; condiments for the coffee; a basket of cookies; and napkins, ceramic plates, and ceramic cups.
The basket on the counter offered sealed packaged hard cookies in four flavors: cocoa nib; coconut and ginger; ginger nut; and coconut and nangai, which is a nut that is sourced from the forests of Vanuatu. The cookies contained no additives or preservatives — “just 100% organic Vanuatu sourced ingredients and nothing more.” Lapita is a company whose headquarters is local to Port Vila. The cookies were good.
Beverages in the refrigerator on the right end of the long counter included bottles of beer, wine, and water that is sourced in Vanuatu; cartons of milk; and cans of Sprite, orange Fanta, and pineapple Fanta.
Final Boarding Call
What prevents Harry Bauer Club Lounge from being very good is its significant lack of food and limited offering of hot and cold beverages — but unlike much of the remainder of the airport, the lounge is at least air conditioned; the seats are reasonably comfortable; the expansive view of the apron and runway outside is nice; it is equipped with an ample amount of electrical outlets and Universal Serial Bus ports; and a flat-screen television provides a source of entertainment.
I have certainly been in worse lounges in airports around the world — and some international airports which serve major cities do not have a Priority Pass airport lounge.
Harry Bauer Club Lounge is a member of the Priority Pass network of airport lounges; and it is located in the international terminal of Bauerfield International Airport in Port Vila.
Treat the odd operating hours as more of a suggestion than as definite: one cannot access the lounge until one goes through the security checkpoint of the airport, which was not open until after noon on the day we were there — but then again, a note mentions that hours may vary according to flight schedules.
