“Storage shouldn’t be a problem: bottom of your closet where shoes used to be, underneath your coffee table, under the kitchen sink, in the trunk of your car, on your balcony. Think man.” is what FlyerTalk member lili posted with the title Again, which wine is this? in the OMNI forum on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at 11:06 in the evening Eastern Standard Time pertaining to who loves Costco — and that became the last time she posted on FlyerTalk.
In Memoriam: lili
Neither her age nor the cause of death were disclosed publicly at the time this article was written, lili — whose real name is Patricia Hansen — passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2022; and this discussion on FlyerTalk is dedicated to her memory.
Having first joined FlyerTalk as a member on Sunday, August 4, 2002, lili posted content a total of 4,923 times and participated in a variety of forums. Her last activity on FlyerTalk was on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 12:29 in the afternoon Eastern Daylight Time.
I knew Pat fairly well, as we met quite a number of times in person in addition to the banter back and forth with each other on FlyerTalk — and one of those times was in Slovenia back on October 28, 2006 as shown in the photograph above, which was taken at the main train station in Ljubljana by FlyerTalk member SanDiego1K with my camera. I am in the middle; while Pat is all the way on the right. Karen Cantu — who was also known as FlyerTalk member KLC and passed away on Wednesday August 8, 2012 — is standing towards the left of the photograph in the purple coat and blue jeans.
Pat almost always had a glass of fine wine in her hand, as she enjoyed the libation with friends while traveling — especially with Michael Loo, who was also known as violist on FlyerTalk and was quite close with Pat in the last years of their lives. Michael passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021.
An obituary for Pat has not been found at the time this article was written — but FlyerTalk member michaelinsfo posted the following heartfelt message:
Hello folks! I am Pat’s son, Michael. I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for the kind thoughts, wonderful memories and great photographs you have posted here. I also want to thank you all for being an important part of my mother’s life over the last 20-plus years while she traveled around the world with you. She has regaled me with stories of your travels over the years!
We will have a casual celebration to raise a glass in her memory on June 18th in San Diego. Let me know if you would like more information.
Thank you,
Michael
Final Boarding Call
The loss of a FlyerTalk member is always sad for me. I really dislike having to mourn yet another fellow frequent flier — especially one whom I had met a number of times around the world and with whom I had enjoyed good times. No matter what I write, I just do not feel like I have done her memory justice.
In the meantime, my thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and colleagues of lili. This discussion has been posted on FlyerTalk in her honor.
Her last signature on FlyerTalk — as a final dose of bittersweet irony — was: “Life is good! Really good.”
May you rest in peace, Pat — with a toast to you for a life well lived. You are indeed missed…
