The kea in New Zealand is a species of large parrot. Kea are found in both the forested regions and alpine regions of the South Island. Their curiosity and highly investigative nature are both attractive to tourists and annoying to residents.
This kea was spotted in a parking lot several miles from Milford Sound. Tourists were fascinated by it.
Final Boarding Call
Kea constantly seek food from human beings. They also can be potentially destructive. Kea will pry rubber and plastic parts off of motor vehicles.
