The reciprocal partnership between Marriott and MGM Resorts has been delayed until early 2024, as 17 resort properties representing greater than than 40,000 rooms in Las Vegas and other cities across the United States will become what will be known as the MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy in an exclusive long-term strategic licensing agreement. The partnership was originally supposed to be in effect as of this month, October of 2023.
Reciprocal Partnership Between Marriott and MGM Resorts Delayed
According to the official Internet web site of Marriott International, Incorporated, “By early 2024, members can earn and redeem their points at more places in Las Vegas – on the Strip and beyond. Stay tuned for details!” That contradicts the original official press release from Marriott International, Incorporated — which has yet to be changed at the time this article was written — that the partnership “will launch in October 2023”.
The section of frequently asked questions of the aforementioned Internet web site also repeatedly mentions early 2024 as the effective date of the partnership:

Additionally, Marriott International, Incorporated has entered into a loyalty marketing agreement with BetMGM — which is the online gaming and sports betting joint venture of MGM Resorts International — for Marriott Bonvoy to become the exclusive hospitality loyalty program partner of BetMGM in the United States and Canada. Under this agreement, Marriott and BetMGM will collaborate to provide Marriott Bonvoy members opportunities to earn Marriott Bonvoy points on certain BetMGM transactions; and participate in exclusive games, experiences, and offers on the BetMGM platform. In addition, BetMGM Rewards members will have the opportunity to exchange BetMGM Rewards points into Marriott Bonvoy points. More information about the collaboration will be available this fall.
On Tuesday, July 11, 2023, news was revealed of Hyatt Hotels Corporation and MGM Resorts International to end their reciprocal relationship between the World of Hyatt and MGM Rewards membership programs effective as of Saturday, September 30, 2023 slightly greater than a decade after the partnership was officially formed. The partnership between the Marriott Bonvoy membership program and the MGM Rewards membership program was officially announced on Monday, July 17, 2023.
Final Boarding Call
The partnership between the Marriott Bonvoy membership program and the MGM Rewards membership program was likely delayed because of the cybersecurity issues with which MGM Resorts International has been experiencing recently.
No word has been given about elite status matches or whether any members of the Marriott Bonvoy membership program will not have to pay mandatory resort fees at the aforementioned resort properties. As nice as that would be, I doubt that will happen.
We will eventually find out when specific news is available about the exact rates to earn and redeem Marriott Bonvoy points through the MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy — as well as the benefits that members who have earned elite status will enjoy…
…but what this means for you is that you will get to earn and enjoy your Marriott Bonvoy elite status and benefits in more places in Las Vegas than ever before…
