I walked into the blood donor center of the American Red Cross for my appointment to donate platelets a few days ago — as I do on a fairly regular basis — and just after I checked in and sat down in the waiting area, the donor center coordinator asked me if I had noticed the ornament on the Christmas tree.
Sunday Morning Photograph December 12 2021: The Mask Angel Cometh.
At first, I was not sure to which ornament she was referring — but the most prominent one was a lone angel…
…and then I realized that the angel comprised of two disposable masks, which was one of the more interesting use of masks that I have seen since what I saw outside of the entrance of The Centers For Disease Control and Prevention. How appropriate for yet another holiday season during the current 2019 Novel Coronavirus pandemic.
After expressing to her what a great way to use masks, I then thought to myself that this was the longest two weeks of my life.
Final Boarding Call
I really like capturing a small slice of life with my camera whenever I travel — whether around the world or only a short distance from where I am based. To me, that tells a story more than photographs at a popular “tourist trap” to which everyone flocks and has seen countless times. These photographs are one of those small slices of life, in my opinion.

Plenty of articles at The Gate which deal with masks during the pandemic exist; but this time, I would rather list the articles which refer to donating blood or platelets — and they include:
