My Stay at The Hoffmann Hotel Basalt Aspen, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

This hotel property is definitely worth its Basalt.

I stayed for one night at The Hoffmann Hotel Basalt Aspen, Tapestry Collection by Hilton in Colorado as a guest of Hilton during a recent event for the press to highlight the new Hilton For Business program. The hotel property recently celebrated its anniversary of 18 months since its opening as brand new construction.

the hotel features a warm, contemporary alpine aesthetic that reflects the natural beauty of the Roaring Fork Valley. Guests consistently praise the hotel’s comfort and cleanliness — Hilton guest surveys rank The Hoffmann among the highest in the region for overall guest service, housekeeping, and restaurant experience.

The Lobby and Ground Floor.

The fireplace is the first thing one sees when entering through the glass doors of the main entrance of the hotel property.

A look to the left from the main entrance reveals a spacious area that is bathed with natural light during the day where guests and visitors can comfortably relax or work.

Upon first glance, the hotel property seems to be a hybrid of a traditional ski lodge with modern upscale lodging.

Adjacent to the front desk is a pantry where snacks, beverages, and sundries may be purchased.

Albeit on a much smaller scale than The Art Hotel Denver, Curio Collection by Hilton hotel property, works of art are displayed throughout the hotel property — such as this piece that hangs across from the two elevators on one of the floors.

The Room.

I found the bed to be quite comfortable, as the mattress was covered with 300 thread count sheets.

The room was well appointed and very quiet.

a room with a television and a table
Photograph ©2025 by Brian Cohen.

On the table was a bag of goodies with which Hilton was kind enough to surprise me. As usual at most hotel and resort properties within the brand portfolio of Hilton, I was personally greeted by the 46-inch large flat screen television — but in this case, I would have liked to have had the landscape near and around the hotel property featured in the background.

Interestingly, the portable luggage rack was one of two that were available in the room. A coffee machine was available with everything that is needed for a hot cup of coffee. Not seen on the floor between the luggage rack and the dresser was a waste receptacle that was divided between trash and items that can be recycled.

A miniature refrigerator was available underneath the coffee machine.

A long mirror with a small shelf and a cupped floor mat — which is probably used to store wet ski boots — is located between the entrance to the room and the closet across the hall from the bathroom.

Included inside of the closet was an ironing board, an iron, another portable luggage rack, a safe, ten wooden hangers, and a laundry bag. The room was equipped with electrical outlets and both USB-A and USB-C Universal Serial Bus ports.

The Bathroom.

The bathroom was very clean and had a modern vanity.

I liked the shower, as the pressure and temperature of the water were very good. Adjacent to the work of art that hung on the wall near the toilet was a convenient hook; but it is not seen in the above photograph on the right.

Mounted on the wall in the shower stall are amenities by Lockwood New York, which include shampoo, conditioner, and body wash — all with the essence of rosemary geranium.

The Views.

The room to which I was assigned was located on the third floor. The top floor is the fourth floor.

I cannot imagine how the view could have been any better from up there.

The part of the mountain that is brown in the photograph above was affected by wildfires a few years ago — but growth of trees is starting to return. I was told that watching the wildfires from this side of the lake was rather concerning and worrisome.

Part of the view below the window to my room is the patio of the restaurant and meeting rooms below — and that is next in this article.

The Food.

The Hoffmann House Restaurant & Bar delivers a locally inspired dining experience with a seasonal menu of elevated American and Italian favorite dishes. Both guests of the hotel property and people who are local to the area have given rave reviews about this restaurant, where every meal is served with the same focus on quality and hospitality that defines the hotel property — so we had to see for ourselves.

The following photographs will speak for themselves.

A long table with flowered centerpieces was set up for us for lunch outside on the patio during what was an ideal sunny day, with a light breeze, comfortable air temperatures — and amazingly, no insects to bother us throughout the entire meal.

The patio overlooks picturesque Kodiak Lake — which is also known as Kodiak Ski Lake — as part of the scenic view.

Imagine enjoying this tranquil view while dining or having a meeting. The setting was truly bucolic in every sense of the word.

Live entertainment was provided for us throughout the meal, of which many of the items on the menu for this lunch were either free of gluten or could optionally be free of gluten — other than dessert.

My drink of choice was called a Mountain Sunrise, which the menu described as “Fresh and Crisp Like a Mountain Morning.” The ingredients of this mocktini are pink grapefruit, vanilla maple syrup, orange essence, and tonic — with just a sprinkle of sugar around the rim of the glass. I enjoyed this drink very much.

Crispy Brussel Sprouts was garnished with crispy garlic, goat cheese, chile crunch, and balsamic. This dish is classified as vegetarian.

Classified as a vegan dish, the Hummus Plate consisted of marinated artichokes, cucumber, Gordal olives, carrots, celery, naan — and, of course, hummus.

Next came the Watermelon & Feta, which is a vegetarian dish that contained basil, pickled watermelon rind, crispy garlic, crumbled feta cheese, and white Balsamic gastro. The diced pickled watermelon rind was not difficult to chew and was surprisingly intense, which helped to balance the mild flavor of the watermelon itself.

The Kale and Quinoa salad was comprised of sliced strawberries, slivers of almonds, and goat cheese; and was dressed with a white balsamic vinaigrette. This option is also classified as vegetarian.

The Steak & Frites included a choice Angus New York strip steak with pomme frites; and finished with a green peppercorn au poivre sauce and garnished with sprigs of parsley.

No photograph of the Hoffmann Burger appears in this article because I was too late to photograph whoever ordered it, as it must have been delicious. Lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, and HH Sauce were a part of this dish — as well as a choice of Cheddar cheese, Swiss cheese, Bleu cheese, or American cheese; and a choice of French fries, tater tots, house salad, or Caesar salad as a side dish.

I chose the Calabrian Honey Glazed Salmon as my entrée, with pesto orzo and crispy Brussels sprouts and topped off with pistachio gremolata. I was told that this was the most requested item on the menu; that it was highly recommended; and that it was the specialty of the house. The absolutely clean plate — save for the rind of the roasted lemon — confirmed every claim to be deservedly verified, as this dish was incredible. That my first name was included in the name of this dish only heightened the experience, as it was literally calling out my name.

A square of key lime pie with whipped cream, a slice of strawberry, and a slice of lime was a refreshing way dessert to end the meal.

Despite the restaurant not offering a lunch menu on a regular basis, its full service bar is open all day long to thirsty patrons. Electrical outlets and Universal Serial Bus ports are provided along the perimeter of the bar in case one needs to work or charge a portable electronic device.

The restaurant itself had plenty of space in which to dine — as well as additional works of art that were hanging on the wall — and plenty of ambient light from outside through the windows brightened the space significantly.

Breakfast was limited to grabbing a quick egg and chorizo breakfast burrito as I was leaving for the airport early that morning. As breakfast burritos do not appeal to me, I did not try it.

Towels and cold water are also available in the fitness center. A relaxing outdoor lounge and hot tub are also available with an outdoor rectangular fire pit; but I did not photograph them.

Bicycles are available to ride at no extra charge for guests to explore the surrounding trails and the Roaring Fork Valley itself. If I had more time, I would have used one of the mountain bikes to explore the Basalt area — especially during the incredible mild and sunny weather that was prevalent during my stay. To use one of these bicycles as a guest of the hotel property — the blue ones are for women and the black ones are for men — simply register for one at the front desk.

Electronic bicycles are also available for an extra charge. They are stored in the Bike & Ski Room, where guests can store their skis during their stays.

Final Boarding Call

The Hoffmann Hotel Basalt Aspen, Tapestry Collection by Hilton is nestled on the serene shores of Kodiak Lake in the heart of the Tree Farm community of the town of Basalt in Colorado, which is only 30 minutes from Aspen and 20 miles from Glenwood Springs. This boutique hotel property offers a refreshing blend of upscale comfort, authentic design, and exceptional service while redefining Rocky Mountain hospitality.

Whether you are visiting for adventure, a special celebration, or a peaceful retreat, The Hoffmann Hotel Basalt Aspen, Tapestry Collection by Hilton is quickly becoming one of the most talked-about destinations in the Roaring Fork Valley.

No, I did not pay for my stay of one night at The Hoffmann Hotel Basalt Aspen, Tapestry Collection by Hilton in full disclosure; but based on what I experienced, I highly recommend staying here. The experience was just luxurious enough to still be comfortable and relaxing without becoming obnoxiously stodgy and rigid. Members of the staff were friendly and very accommodating.
