Tropical Storm Idalia Affecting Bermuda: September 2023 Travel Alert

Yes. That Idalia.

Not long after Hurricane Franklin affected Bermuda, Tropical Storm Idalia is affecting Bermuda September 2023. You may want to consider delaying your travel — or, at least, keep yourself updated as to the latest information pertaining to the weather — if Bermuda is in your travel plans over the next couple of days due to the effects of the tropical weather system.

Tropical Storm Idalia Affecting Bermuda: September 2023 Travel Alert

Maximum sustained winds of Tropical Storm Idalia — which is currently approximately 150 miles west southwest of Bermuda and moving east southeast at a speed of 17 miles per hour — are at 50 miles per hour. Although no landfall will occur as Tropical Storm Idalia starts to speed up its forward motion while it simultaneously weakens, Bermuda will experience at least tropical storm conditions.a map of the united states with a diagram

This is the same tropical weather system named Idalia that wreaked havoc as a Category 3 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 125 miles per hour upon landfall near Keaton Beach in the Big Bend area of Florida just prior to 8:00 in the morning Eastern Daylight Time two days ago on Wednesday, August 30, 2023.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for:

  • Bermuda

Dangerous rough surf, strong rip currents, windy conditions, and significant precipitation are all possible for Bermuda, which will experience tropical storm conditions through tomorrow evening, Saturday, September 2, 2023.

After passing south and then east of Bermuda tomorrow, Tropical Storm Idalia — which is technically called Post-Tropical Cyclone Idalia — is expected to gradually weaken over the next several days as it takes a path toward eastern Canada.
