While driving on Highway SH75 on my way from a pleasant stay in the coastal city of Sarandë to my eventual destination of Ohrid in North Macedonia, I stopped to admire the view of Vjosa River Bend in Albania.

Vjosa Wild River National Park is a brand new national park that is a United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization World Heritage site, with approximately 400 kilometers of untamed waterway, 300 cultural monuments, and greater than 1,000 species.
Although it was not yet officially a national park when I viewed it, Vjosa Wild River National Park is now the first wild river national park in Europe.
Highway SH75 twists and curves along with the Vjosa River and the surrounding Pindus Mountains in the southern part of Albania.
A viewpoint on the west side of the road allows for people to safely take in the beauty — as well as take photographs.
Final Boarding Call
I had no idea that what I saw was to become the first wild river national park in Europe. The Vjosa River deserves that distinction.
