Winter Weather Affecting Northeastern United States: February 2025 Travel Alert

The following statement is currently posted at the official Internet web site of the National Weather Service of the United States:

Winter Storm to Track From the West Coast Across the Upper Midwest & Northeast Through this Weekend

A Pacific storm will bring strong winds, heavy rain, and mountain snow from the Sierras to Rockies on Friday. The storm will then track east through the Midwest producing heavy snow from the Dakotas to the Great Lakes on Saturday. An icy wintry mix is expected across the northern Mid-Atlantic states Saturday night. Heavy snow will likely impact the Northeast Saturday night into Sunday.

The map of the United States from the National Weather Service currently indicates winter storm warnings, winter storm watches, and winter weather advisories from north central Oregon all the way to southern Maine and south to central Virginia. An ice storm warning has been issued for the spine of the Appalachian Mountains in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and West Virginia. Much of the state of West Virginia is under a flood watch.
