I f you have been affected by the ground stop of Delta Air Lines in the 48 continuous United States as the result of automation issues, I have some good news to report to you: the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States has issued the following advisory moments ago:
Ground Stop Canceled For Delta Air Lines — But…
In case the image is unclear, the message reads:
THE DAL AND SUB CARRIER GROUND STOP IS CANCELED. EXPECT DAL GROUND STOPS FOR HUB AIRPORTS TO FOLLOW.
This means that although the ground stop is officially canceled, delays may still be experienced until further notice at hub airports in Atlanta, Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Detroit and Salt Lake City — as well as possibly Seattle, Cincinnati, New York, Boston, Orlando and Los Angeles…
…and even if a flight may be cleared for departure, there could be related issues — such as allocation of flight crew members or the rebooking of passengers to other flights — which could contribute to delays.
If you are a passenger at one of those airports, hang tight and hopefully you will be on your way soon.
The official Internet web site for news of Delta Air Lines is operating as normal; but the last update still remains the same:
Delta teams are expeditiously working to fix a systems outage that has resulted in departure delays for flights on the ground. Flights in the air remain unaffected. Delta apologizes to customers for the inconvenience.
Delta will provide updates as they become available on news.delta.com
Summary
The official Internet web site of Delta Air Lines appears to be functional but is operating rather slow and is experiencing sporadic outages; so either please be patient in using it — or simply wait until a later time to conduct your business there.
Hopefully, this system outage will be resolved completely as soon as possible and only result in minimal inconvenience at best for all involved.
