Pliva Waterfall in Bosnia and Herzegovina is located on the River Pliva near where it empties into the River Vrbas by the town of Jajce approximately in the center of the country.
Pliva Waterfall in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Sunday Morning Photograph.
On the left in the above photograph is the River Pliva; and on the right is the River Vrbas. The town of Jajce is in the background.
Prior to both an earthquake during the Balkan War and attacks on the power plant further up the River Pliva in the 1990s, Pliva Waterfall was approximately 30 meters in height. The waterfall is currently slightly greater than 23 meters in height.
Viewing the waterfall is free of charge — except for visitors who want to access the viewing platform below, which costs ten Bosnian marks or approximately $5.37 in United States dollars.
Final Boarding Call
The Pliva Waterfall has been called the Niagara Falls of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
