WestJet Rebrands as Canada Air For 150th Birthday of Canada

Richard Bartrem — who is the vice president of marketing communications and community relations at WestJet — is at it again, as WestJet rebrands as Canada Air for the 150th birthday of Canada as the most Canadian airline ever…

WestJet Rebrands as Canada Air For 150th Birthday of Canada

…or is it for April Fools’ Day?

You know the answer. How aboat — yes, aboat — that, eh?

Please see the articles and videos I have written about past videos produced by WestJet for April Fools’ Day — including…

The Most Canadian Sale in Canada

As is typical customary in conjunction with April Fools’ Day, WestJet is offering The Most Canadian Sale in Canada where fares start at $106.00 each way.

You can book by Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 11:59 in the evening Mountain Daylight Time for travel from Tuesday, April 18, 2017 through Wednesday, June 28, 2017; and from Monday, August 21, 2017 through Tuesday, October 31, 2017 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for most routes with destinations in Canada, the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean and Europe.

An advance purchase of 14 days on domestic flights and seven days on trans-border travel is required. Seats and days are limited. Restrictions and exclusions apply.

Blackout dates for this sale in 2017 are as follows:

  • May 18 through May 19
  • May 22 through May 23
  • August 31 through September 1
  • September 4 through September 5
  • October 5 through October 6
  • October 9 through October 10

I may have poked fun at his Canadian accent after WestJet released its 2016 edition of the annual April Fools Day videos; but I cannot think of anyone with a better Canadian accent to be a spokesperson for the most Canadian airline ever than Richard Bartrem — and he seems to really excel at curling, which is a sport I never understood…

…although I must ask: Was not Canadi>n Airlines — which was a founding airline of the oneworld Alliance but was acquired by Air Canada in 2001 — the most Canadian airline ever?!?

By the way, Canada really will be 150 years old on July 1 in 2017.
