Answer to What is Wrong With This Photograph? Part 347

I was driving down a street one day recently when I arrived at an intersection — and I was not sure of what to do next.

I then realized that the street on the right was newly paved and led into an area that is the site of a new subdivision of houses — and since a white stop line was painted only halfway across it, it was not going to be a one way street. Perhaps the one-way signs are supposed to be on the side of the post and attached on each side of the post pointing in the same direction, as that street is a one way street.

Favorite answer by derek: “This is a misuse of ‘one way’ signs. The correct sign in the photo is ‘do not enter’ so drivers must not drive straight ahead. The lane should have a painted forked arrow pointing to right turn and left turn.

“Alternatively, a sign could read ‘right or left turn only’ or have a right and left turn arrow, which sort of resembles a ‘Y’. See https://dmv-permit-test.com/road-signs/turn-left-or-right-sign

Favorite comment by rmah: “one is the new two!”
