You may be eligible for a share of $1.05 billion from a settlement which was reached in litigation pertaining to price fixing on certain automotive components if you purchased or leased a qualifying new vehicle in the United States or indirectly purchased a qualifying vehicle replacement part — both not for resale — at any time between Sunday, January 1, 1995 to Thursday, February 15, 2018; and you must either submit your claim here or via postal mail using a document linked here.
Your Chance to Get Your Share of Money From Automotive Parts and Automobile Purchase Settlement
No deadline has been set yet by the court for the submission of claims; but if you are eligible to participate in this class action, you only need to file one claim regardless of the number of vehicles you purchased or leased; the number of replacement parts you purchased; or which settlement funds your purchases or leases may be applicable — but you may file your claim now.
Indirectly means you bought the vehicle replacement part from someone other than the manufacturer of the part. In general, qualifying vehicles are four-wheeled passenger automobiles, cars, light trucks, pickup trucks, crossovers, vans, mini-vans, and sport utility vehicles. between
How much payment you will receive and when you will receive it is still unknown at this time until all claims are received and the court approves the final settlement — but keep in mind that you are eligible for non-monetary benefits only in the states of Alabama, Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Kentucky, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming.
You can choose to exclude yourself from — or object to — this class-action lawsuit.
Summary
If you do decide to participate in this settlement — I am thinking about participating in it myself, as I just checked and am eligible — note that according to this article written by Chuck of Doctor of Credit, “it’s not an easy class action settlement to take part of — they ask for your VIN number and documentation of the your purchase or lease.”
However, do not expect any major windfall, as you will not exactly get rich from this settlement — and you will not see your money for quite some time.
