One Major Issue With the Holiday Inn Andorra Which I Had Was…

I drove approximately 214 kilometers for two hours and 45 minutes from the international airport which serves Barcelona to be in Andorra — about which I eventually intend to write an article pertaining to my experience — and decided to stay at the Holiday Inn Andorra hotel property for one night back in 2018.

One Major Issue With the Holiday Inn Andorra Which I Had Was…

The lobby was nice enough — but it was nothing special.

After checking in at the front desk, I headed down the dark hallway to my room.

I walked through the short corridor of the room. The bathroom was on one side of this corridor; while plenty of closet space was on the other side — and inside one of the closets were two bathrobes.

At the end of the short corridor was quite a large and spacious clean non-smoking room with two comfortable queen size beds and plenty of light, thanks to the plethora of lamps and other sources of illumination.

Looking back towards the entrance to the room, the desk is located on the side — along with a built-in area on which luggage can be placed — with a chair and a telephone. Access to the Internet via Wi-Fi — which was included in the cost of the room — was at least adequate. The illuminated trey ceiling with decorative molding was unusual for a hotel room.

Two chairs and a floor lamp were at the far end of the room where the window is located.

Plenty of storage space — with built-in cabinets and at least two full closets — is available on the wall opposite of the beds. A flat-screen television — which was neither large nor small — was mounted on the wall between storage spaces.

In one cabinet is an ice bucket, and everything you would need for a cup of coffee or tea. Reference materials pertaining to the hotel property and Andorra itself were found underneath that cabinet.

One of the closets had six small shelves and one large shelf, hangers, an iron, and an ironing board; while another storage area included a safe, a plastic laundry bag, a small sewing kit, a cloth to clean shoes, and a price list for having laundry cleaned.

The Bathroom

The bathroom included a large wall mirror, a smaller adjustable mirror mounted on the wall which magnified the reflection, a telephone, a stool, a scale on which to weigh yourself, and a bathtub with a shower head that included that typical — and virtually useless, in my opinion — partial shower partition which is found in many hotel room bathrooms around Europe.

On a tray to the left of the sink were amenities by Duke & Lyle, which included hair conditioner, body lotion, a bar of soap, a shower cap, an emery board, and a comb — but no shampoo…

…because mounted on the tile wall next to the adjustable shower head in the bathtub area are bulk dispensers of Dove moisturizing cream — which is called Cream Shower — and a liquid which is a combination of both shampoo and conditioner.

A bidet is beside the toilet; and in addition to a telephone, a hair dryer hands on the wall next to the toilet. An adequate number of towels were in the bathroom during my stay.

The View

Despite being in a small mountainous country, the view from the window of the room was unremarkable at best…

…with the peaks of some mountains in the background behind the buildings and the cranes, which indicated a building boom in Andorra.

The cloudy and dreary day did not help the view from the window of the room.

The hotel property is located on Carrer Prat De La Creu, which is the main street that cuts through the center of town.

The Holiday Inn Andorra hotel property consists of 140 rooms.

Limited metered parking is available on the street outside of the hotel — but guests who want to park with the hotel should be prepared to pay €22.00. Valet parking service supposedly does not cost extra money.

Summary

The total cost for the room for one night was €65.52 or approximately $78.23, which is a good rate — although it was not refundable once it was paid in advance — but the one major issue I had with the hotel property was that parking cost €22.00 per night or almost $26.27, which means that the rate to park a vehicle for one night was almost 33.58 percent of the total room rate…

…but parking is at a premium on the streets of Andorra La Vella — and whatever parking is available is expensive metered parking which is rigidly enforced. Because I arrived at the hotel property on a Sunday, I did manage to park on the street at almost no cost.

I did not eat any meals at this hotel property; nor did I get any photographs of the gym, heated indoor swimming pool, or whirlpool.

The staff behind the front desk were cordial; but I would not go so far as to say that they are friendly.

If you find yourself in Andorra, I recommend staying at this hotel property — but other than a clean and spacious room, do not expect anything out of the ordinary pertaining to your experience.
