This policy affects members who earned Diamond and Gold elite status.

The daily credit for food and beverages at all luxury hotel and resort properties, full-service hotel and resort properties, lifestyle hotel and resort properties, and Hilton Garden Inn hotel properties in the United States for Hilton Honors members who have earned Diamond or Gold elite status has not only been extended into 2022…

Update: Hilton Daily Food and Beverage Credit Extended and Increased 2022 in the United States

…but effective as of Tuesday, February 1, 2022, the credit amounts will increase across the lifestyle and full-service brands of Hilton from $12.00 per night to $15.00 per night; and from $15.00 per night to $18.00 per night in select markets — which means that the maximum credit value for a minimum of two guests will increase at those hotel properties from $24.00 per night to $30.00 per night; and from $30.00 per night to $36.00 per night in select markets.

Guests who stay at the brands of Hilton which offer complimentary breakfast to all guests — such as Hampton Inn and Tru by Hilton as two examples — will continue to receive this offering.

This article at The Gate — which was posted on Thursday, May 21, 2021 — first reported that an official announcement from Hilton has revealed that will receive a daily credit for food and beverages for the remainder of 2021 effective as of Thursday, July 1, 2021; and this article reported updated information as of Monday, June 28, 2021.

Final Boarding Call

“Over the coming months, we plan to actively listen to and evaluate feedback from our Hilton Honors members in order to make a decision that best supports our loyal customers” is what I was told by my contact at Hilton earlier this year — and as a result of “taking to heart member feedback since rolling out the benefit”, the daily food and beverage credit policy for members who earned Diamond and Gold elite status will be extended into 2022 and the aforementioned changes will be implemented.

My experience suggests that the breakfast benefits at Hilton Honors hotel and resort properties in the United States are incomparable to those at hotel and resort properties outside of the United States, which are typically significantly better — and they are generally still not affected by this announcement.

In some ways, the daily food and beverage credit for the aforementioned hotel and resort properties within the United States might actually be an improvement overall for some guests.

Despite being a travel “blogger”, my experiences with Hilton over the years has been substantially more positive overall than negative — and I will continue to see how this works out in practice, as some of the amounts may not cover what a complimentary breakfast covered at some hotel and resort properties…
