Video: I Rode on Vegas Loop For the First Time — and The Verdict Is…

I was not exactly thrown for a loop — but the ride was a cool experience.

I finally rode on Vegas Loop for the first time greater than ten years and one month since Hyperloop was first mentioned in this article at The Gate With Brian Cohen.

The entrance to Vegas Loop is clearly marked and down a long escalator at the Resorts World station.

Tunnel segments are on display to greet passengers outside the glass doors at the bottom end of the escalator.

The map on the pillar was incomplete, as the airport stations are not included on it; but tickets can be booked to and from the airport on a limited basis — whatever that means.

The schedule of rides was never clear; but we were able to immediately use one of two available white Tesla Y model electric vehicles, which are part of a fleet of them.

Listen to the refreshingly gregarious driver impart a lot of information in this video as we wended our way through the tunnels underneath the streets of Las Vegas…

…but as of now, part of the ride to the airport is above ground. Additional tunnels are in the process of being excavated, with the entrance and exit as close to the airport as possible.

Final Boarding Call

As you can likely tell in the aforementioned video, the asphalt was inexplicably not completely smooth in the tunnels, which resulted in a somewhat bumpy ride — but that is a minor criticism to what was otherwise a good experience.

Between rental vehicles, the monorail, buses, Zoox, and even walking, the number of transportation options that are available in Las Vegas keeps increasing – but many of them are also limited in scope; and that includes Vegas Loop, which only serves eleven stations and is best for trips to and from the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Tickets from the Resorts World station to either terminal at the airport cost a total of twelve dollars per person with Vegas Loop. Rates may vary between stations.
