Answer to What is Wrong With This Photograph? Part 356

Source: National Park Service of the United States.

While writing this article pertaining to a recent controversy regarding respecting the flag of the United States of America, I researched an official Internet web site of the National Park Service which purposely highlighted an error that the lyrics of the Star Spangled Banner were attributed to “B. Key, Esq.” and not Francis Scott Key.

Favorite answer by Jim F.: “Note the typo ‘Written by B. Key, Esq.’ The author, of course, was Francis Scott Key; no ‘B’ in his name..”

Favorite comment by derek: “The date of the attack is incorrect. It did not happen on the 12-13th of September 1814. It actually occurred on the 13-14th of September. As for the author, I concur with Jim F. in that Francis Scott Key was incorrectly credited as ‘B. Key, Esq.’

“The tune is not credited to the original English drinking song, ‘To Anacreon in Heaven’ but I wouldn’t say that is something that is wrong with the photograph.”
