7 Steps on How to Disable Infinite Scroll on FlyerTalk

Articles are rarely repeated in their entirety here at The Gate; but after reading this article called The Decline of FlyerTalk written by Drew Macomber of Travel Is Free — and its comments — pertaining to the Infinite Scroll feature of FlyerTalk and how many people still do not seem to know how to disable it, I thought that a reminder was due since I first originally posted this instructional article on the topic back on Saturday, November 18, 2017.

7 Steps on How to Disable Infinite Scroll on FlyerTalk

When FlyerTalk underwent an upgrade to the software that powers it on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, a functionality known as Infinite Scroll became the default in terms of viewing content — and many FlyerTalk members expressed their dislike for it for a variety of reasons.

If you happen to be one of those FlyerTalk members, you can easily turn Infinite Scroll off.

What Is Infinite Scroll?

Infinite Scroll is an optional feature of the vBulletin bulletin board software platform which powers FlyerTalk. Both vBulletin and FlyerTalk are owned by Internet Brands.

Instead of breaking up a discussion into separate “pages”, the Infinite Scroll feature allows you to scroll continuously through the same discussion — no matter how lengthy it may be or how much content has been posted to it — and new content which has already been posted is automatically loaded as you scroll down to what initially seems to be the end of the discussion, which extends the length of the discussion. This process will continue until you either reach the end of the discussion or stop scrolling prior to reaching the end.

This official video from vBulletin demonstrates how the Infinite Scroll feature works.

Summary

When The Gate returned to BoardingArea on August 1, 2014, its main area was set to a feature similar to Infinite Scroll — but that has since been disabled as well.

I personally do not care for the Infinite Scroll feature myself and have it deactivated. If that is your preference as well, then I hope that this article was of help to you.

I happen to know how to use FlyerTalk rather well; so if you have any questions about it — as well as how to use it — please let me know in the Comments section below.
