When I traveled to Greece back in 2024, I noticed that Hilton did not have a strong presence at all in that country — that has significantly changed since its partnership with Small Luxury Hotels of the World began — and the Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand officially returns to Greece with the opening of the Hilton Chania Old Town Resort & Spa hotel property on the island of Crete.
Hilton Hotels & Resorts Returns to Greece with Opening in Chania

As the iconic hospitality of the brand embraces the historic region of Chania and the culturally rich coastline of Crete, the property — which has 85 elegant rooms and suites and is located just a walk of five minutes from the entrance to the Old Town and only a 20-minute drive from the airport — is set to redefine Chania as a international destination all year round, combining curated gastronomic experiences, premium wellness facilities, and flexible event spaces that open the doors for connection, celebration, and inspiration. Every room features a private balcony with a heated pool; while others include in-room saunas and sweeping views of the Aegean Sea.

Key Highlights include:
- World Class Dining
- Poème de la Canée: A vibrant, two-level dining destination, boasting all-day Mediterranean flavors, signature cocktails, live music, and a welcoming social atmosphere.
- Céleste: A sophisticated rooftop experience with a heated infinity pool overlooking the Aegean Sea, offering guests a menu of curated dishes, bar bites, and signature beverages.
- Fauchon Café Pâtisserie: Making its Greece debut, this renowned French brand offers refined pastries, desserts, gourmet sandwiches, and its iconic five o’clock tea experience.
- The C Bar: An elegant lounge providing a carefully curated selection of aged spirits and premium cigars from Cuba and the Dominican Republic.
- Elevated Amenities
- Little Galaxy: This open-air, rooftop botanical garden provides a serene retreat to thoughtfully host intimate events and receptions for up to 120 guests, group wellness activities, and small weddings.
- L’Occitane en Provence Spa: Inspired by the natural beauty of Provence, this spa features four treatment rooms, a hammam, saunas, steam baths, and tranquil relaxation areas.
Final Boarding Call

Hilton Hotels & Resorts may seem to have taken a back seat when compared to its newer brethren of brands over the years — but the flagship brand now has a presence in almost 100 countries and territories with greater than 600 hotel and resort properties. The Hilton Chania Old Town Resort & Spa hotel property is the latest example that proves that the Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand has become more upscale in recent years than during much of its storied history.
As mentioned earlier in this article, Greece represented a hole in the presence of Hilton. Perhaps other countries — such as Norway, Vanuatu, and Bosnia and Herzegovina as three examples — will be considered for growth in the Hilton portfolio of brands in the future…
