Final Boarding Call
Racking up the bargains with Sam’s Club — or with any warehouse club, for that matter — is doable; but not as easy as one may believe.
For travel, Sam’s Club claims to save members up to 25 percent on rental cars and up to 60 percent on lodging options around the world — which is quite possible — but I almost never hear or read about anyone who saved so much money with these options primarily because better ways to save money usually prevail on articles within BoardingArea and other travel weblogs.
As for fuel, that can be tricky as well: sometimes you can save as much as 30 cents per gallon of gasoline with Sam’s Club; and at other times, you can find other fuel stations which actually offer lower prices. The timing must be right for maximum savings. Furthermore, Sam’s Club locations are not as readily available as fuel stations; so you might at times need to go out of your way to realize savings — or not be able to take advantage of saving on fuel at all if no location is within a reasonable distance from where you are at the time.
The situation is similar to what is offered within the Sam’s Club facility itself: prices on many items sold are usually less expensive than in supermarkets, grocery stores, and other retailers — but when the items at those stores are on sale, they usually are less expensive than Sam’s Club and other warehouse clubs.
As for automatic renewal of membership, that can easily be deactivated if you do not want to have your membership renewed automatically.
If you can take advantage of that gift card worth $45.00 on items which you needed to purchase anyway, consider joining as a member of Sam’s Club, as it is effectively free after using the gift card.
