Travel Insurance Can Now Be Purchased With Marriott While Booking a Reservation

Convenient added peace of mind for guests who want it.

Effective as of today, Wednesday, January 12, 2022, you can seamlessly purchase travel insurance policies from Allianz Partners during the process of booking a reservation at a hotel or resort property which participates in any of the 30 brands of Marriott International, Incorporated.

Travel Insurance Can Now Be Purchased With Marriott While Booking a Reservation

Unlike typical travel insurance for individuals, Allianz Global Assistance plans which have been developed for Marriott can cover everyone staying in the room or multiple rooms — including friends or family members — and may provide not only benefits for much more than just the cost of hotel stays; but also reimbursement for prepaid expenses which cannot be refunded. Three of many examples of those benefits may include:

  • Airfare
  • Expenses incurred during covered travel delays
  • Expenses incurred during medical emergencies

When you choose to purchase travel insurance while booking your reservation at a participating hotel or resort property of Marriott, the cost is added to the total cost of your stay; and you are charged in a single transaction. You have the flexibility to cancel your insurance plan within 15 days of purchase — or a greater amount of time, depending on state and plan — if your travels have not yet started. Plans from Allianz Partners on the official Internet web site of Marriott can be purchased upon booking the reservation or prior to departure — and even include plans that accommodate reservations for a same day check-in at a hotel or resort property.

If you are one of those guests who wants to purchase travel insurance, you will be given the opportunity to purchase insurance from Allianz Partners for your trip when you select your preferred hotel or resort property — either via the official Internet web site of Marriott or in the iOS version of the Marriott Bonvoy mobile software application program. A range of policies that vary in price, coverage, and benefits are offered to provide as much flexibility to guests as possible.

As an example, when booking a reservation for a 1 Bedroom 2 room Suite with 1 King, Sofa bed at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Atlanta Downtown hotel property — checking in on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 and checking out on Thursday, January 27, 2022 — for a final total of $371.66, the insurance would cost $25.09…

Add Allianz Travel Insurance

Enjoy peace of mind from the time you book until you return home with protection for eligible canceled trip costs and unexpected expenses during your trip.

  • Get reimbursed for non-refundable trip expenses (like flights, activities/tickets, and hotel costs) if the trip is canceled due to many covered reasons
  • Get cash back for lost trip costs if the trip is cut short due to a covered illness, injury, and more
  • Receive compensation for each guest’s personal belongings if they are lost, stolen, damaged or delayed (incl. cell phones, suitcases, and wallets)
  • Emergency medical care (up to $10,000 per guest) and medical transportation benefits (up to $15,000 per guest) in case of a covered illness or injury
  • 24/7 assistance with trained experts to help with medical and travel-related emergencies

For a room at the same hotel property which costs a total of $411.41 on the same dates, the cost of insurance coverage increases to $27.77 — so the cost of insurance is commensurate with the total cost of the stay.

Final Boarding Call

The point of offering this insurance to guests — other that obviously providing an additional revenue stream — is to provide a seamless process for guests who want to purchase travel insurance but do not want to spend valuable time researching and selecting travel insurance…

…especially in the less predictable travel environment of recent months due to the current 2019 Novel Coronavirus pandemic, with which the waves of the Omicron variant have rendered the need to protect travel decisions more urgent for many guests, who can now book reservations with more confidence and peace of mind from the time the reservation is booked for the stay until the return back home.
