Answers to Past Articles — Part 26: Rumble Flush Mintues Frontier Speed Limit

The headline of this article would be a great title for a wacky new movie.

In past articles in which your participation was not only requested but also helpful and humorous, I did not give the answers to questions which I have posed to you; so this article is the twenty-sixth of a series to do just that — along with links to the aforementioned articles…

…and the links are embedded in the titles of each section as well as within the sections themselves; so please click on the links in each section to take you to the original article.

The Favorite Answer will usually be the correct answer by a reader of The Gate — along with a Favorite Comment from the same article which I found to be funny or informative.

a road with a sign on it

No one ever said that life is like a smooth road; and no one ever said that anything that lies ahead always comes with a notice or warning — but during one of my long walks, I was compelled to take these photographs…

a road with a sign and a tree

…because when driving a vehicle, the motorist is not sufficiently warned of the rumble strips in the road in an adequate amount of time — and, in fact, the sign is placed almost halfway through this patch of rumble strips.

Favorite answer by Jim F.: “Much advance notice?”

Favorite comment by S.E. Hardy: “A mailbox at a cemetery? Who the heck is getting mail? I always wondered if there were some other way to communicate with the dead besides a séance. Now I know. Just write them a letter. I wonder if they’ll write back?”

a house with a stack of wood

Sometimes when I go for long walks, I see bizarre things that cause me to be flushed with — well — envy is not the word that comes to mind, as I was so bowled over with what I saw on the side of a residential house that I flipped my lid enough to take these photographs which I wood eventually use on my own ac-cord for this lumbering series of articles.

I really did not know what to think. Who in the world would put two toilet bowls outside of the side of their house between two piles of wood — and why?!?

I still do not know the answer to that question.

While I was searching for the latest travel waivers from airlines for areas of the northeastern United States and southeastern Canada which were affected by a winter storm, I stumbled upon the following area of the official Internet web site of Frontier Airlines: I could book my flight today starting from *!

Starting from what? One dollar? Kalamazoo? Scratch?

Favorite answer and comment by derek: “The headline is not complete. It should read ‘Book Your Flight Today from $99!

“In the big picture, Frontier is so wrong. It used to be a decent airline, the old version. Then the new Frontier wasn’t bad the first few years. At one time, Horizon Air (Alaska Air) flew some routes, like Little Rock-Denver. Now, Frontier is garbage.”

A visit to BoardingArea will typically greet you with the latest articles on a number of topics pertaining to travel, miles, and points which are designed to save you time, money, and effort — as well as entertain you — and no, there is nothing wrong with weblogs such as Travel with Grant or The Shutterwhale

…but at the time I took this screen shot, an advertisement stood out to me for a mintue:

Appraisal in Mintues!? Was that a new form of currency; a city of which I never heard; or a refreshing collection of mint candies?

Favorite answer by rmh: “how many seconds are in a mintue?”

Favorite comment by DaninMCI: “The site is broken and driving away visitors with the pop-up video on the bottom right.”

Speed limit sign

Walking can have an observer see details which motorists typically cannot when driving a vehicle — and that happened to me during a recent walk when I was passing a traffic sign with the posted speed limit, which caused me to stop and take a second look: the Speed Limit 25 sign in this photograph was reincarnated, as it was once a No Right Turn sign.

Favorite answer by Steve Wharton: “Painted over NO RIGHT TURN sign.”

Favorite comment by Jeff campbell: “25 what. MPH/KPH OR MAYBE STEPS PER HOUR”
