Answers to Past Articles — Part 34: Tamsport Brussle Sprout Jug Up In a Camero

People were actually paid to write and approve these anomalies.

In past articles in which your participation was not only requested but also helpful and humorous, I did not give the answers to questions which I have posed to you; so this article is the thirty-fourth of a series to do just that — along with links to the aforementioned articles…

…and the links are embedded in the titles of each section as well as within the sections themselves; so please click on the links in each section to take you to the original article.

The Favorite Answer will usually be the correct answer by a reader of The Gate — along with a Favorite Comment from the same article which I found to be funny or informative.

After almost 69 years of serving the Lake George resort area in the state of New York, the last Howard Johnson’s restaurant in the world not only reportedly closed permanently prior to the Memorial Day holiday weekend with no advance notice whatsoever; but the site at 2143 United States Highway Route 9 was available for lease for only ten dollars at the time this article was written — although one could understand about being mistaken if that in and of itself would qualify this for this series of articles…

…but what is a Convenience Tamsport — and how are there no bathrooms?!?

Favorite answer by DaninMCI: “It would make a nice home but I’d think strangers would drop by unannounced a lot.”

Favorite comment by rmah: “where can you poop?!?”

a chalkboard with a price list

Near the entrance of a restaurant where I dined earlier this year was a chalkboard which listed the special meals, vegetables, and soup of the day — as well as their prices — which were not a part of the regular menu…

…but I had to bristle at the misspelling of Brustle Brussle Brussels sprouts.

Favorite answer by cheyenne winstone: “brussels sprouts is spelled wrong”

Favorite comment by gary rind: “what’s wrong with this picture is even offering disgusting sprouts for sale! well, besides the misspelling for brussel.”

Earlier this year, Hertz sent an e-mail message to me with a promotion through which I could save money on renting a vehicle this past summer — but I will give you a hint: even though I did not participate in this specific promotion, I still did not get arrested after renting vehicles from Hertz

…but how in the world does a rental car company spell the name Camaro incorrectly as Camero? Again, I cannot imagine who wrote this copy — as well as who approved it — and was paid for it.

By the way, production of the Chevrolet Camaro will supposedly cease in 2014, which I believe is a shame.

Favorite answer by Jim F.: “Camero?”

Favorite comment by rmah: “‘Get in. Start up.’

“~~~Never end sentences with prepositions.

“‘easier’

“~~~It should be “more easily” because it’s all about the adverbs.

“‘Let’s Go!’

“~~~‘G’ should be ‘g’.

“respect grammar!!”

a black vending machine with buttons and buttons

I do not drink coffee
I do not drink tea
I am not Dr. Seuss
So please pardon me
When I say that something seemed incorrect
Or at least not completely right
When at least one thing caught my attention
With this hot beverage machine at first sight.

I really have no idea how anyone can fit a jug under this machine to fill it with hot water — but after testing it, I can confirm that the amount of hot water which is actually dispensed will only fill a cup or a mug and not an entire jug.

Favorite answer by derek: “This machine is plain confusing. Why 2 start buttons at the bottom. What is the “x” next to the hot milk button on the right? If true, the jug of hot water is downright dangerous, risking a flood and scalded feet.

“Animo is a Dutch brand. This shows they are weird.”

Favorite comment by Jim F.: “So, where WAS this beverage machine in the first place? Context may matter although it’s hard to imagine anyone approaching one of these machines with an empty jug. Could it be that the ‘jug of hot water’ has something to do with a maintenance process?”

Everyone knows that life has its ups and downs — including the people who work at United Parcel Service, who must carry on every day — but upon reaching the doors of an elevator, when will those ups will occur and when will those downs will get in the way? Who knows?!?

Stragely, this particular elevator had two buttons which both pointed up — even though the floor at which these buttons were found was not the bottom floor.

Favorite answer by Gary Steiger – FreeFrequentFlyerMiles.com: “Elevator to top floor, then to heaven?”

Favorite comment by Jim F.: “Going…down?”
